Electric Circuit Breaker

A circuit breaker is a switching device capable of making, carrying, and breaking current under normal circuit conditions, as well as making, carrying, and breaking current under abnormal circuit conditions within a specified period of time. Circuit breakers are categorized into high-voltage and low-voltage types based on their application range; typically, devices rated above 10kV are considered high-voltage circuit breakers.

Circuit breakers play a crucial role in the protection and control of power systems. During normal operation, they can connect or disconnect no-load and load currents. When a fault occurs in the power grid, the circuit breaker can quickly and automatically interrupt the fault current, ensuring the safe operation of the unaffected parts of the grid.

In addition, circuit breakers can also be used for power distribution, occasional starting of asynchronous motors, and automatic disconnection of circuits in the event of overload, short circuit, or under-voltage conditions.

Circuit breakers not only operate circuits under normal conditions but also promptly isolate faulty sections in the event of equipment or line faults, thereby ensuring continued operation of the unaffected sections and providing protection.

3. Multiple Operating Modes

Circuit breakers can operate in various modes, including electrical operation, energy storage operation, and manual operation. The appropriate mode is selected based on specific operational needs.
